What is cellular wellness?
Cellular wellness is a broad way of describing the conditions that help cells carry out normal functions: adequate nutrition, energy production, repair processes, signaling, antioxidant defenses, and the removal or recycling of damaged cellular material.
Oxidative stress in context
Reactive oxygen species are a normal part of metabolism and also participate in signaling. Problems can arise when oxidant production and antioxidant defenses become persistently imbalanced. Healthy dietary patterns, movement, sleep, and avoidance of tobacco exposure all contribute to a more supportive environment.
What about cellular senescence?
Cellular senescence is a complex biological state in which cells stop dividing in response to stress or damage. It is important in wound healing and tumor suppression, but the accumulation of certain senescent cells is also an active area of aging research. Findings about individual compounds or laboratory models should not be treated as proof that a finished supplement removes senescent cells in people.
The lifestyle foundation
Healthy aging remains grounded in fundamentals: adequate protein and micronutrients, plant-rich foods, resistance and aerobic activity, sleep, social connection, preventive care, and management of known health risks.
Where supplements fit
A thoughtfully formulated supplement may complement an established wellness routine. It should not substitute for medical care, nutrition, movement, or sleep, and outcomes vary among individuals.
